Immersive Elements

2024

In collaboration with Lorne Covington of Noirflux, Artswego, Cara Thompson, and students.

Immersive Elements is an interactive art installation. The position of the viewer’s body and hands are tracked with camera sensors, and that position is used to trigger different actions and animations. Students came up with the theme for the installation and designed all the visual elements in the installation and a web app, while Lorne Covington programmed the designs to be interactive and set up the projectors and sensors.

I got the opportunity to work with a very talented group of artists and designers to create a magical experience. I personally worked on the fire environment, with a focus on using 3d modeling to create a volcanic environment and simulating an eruption to be used as an interactive element. I also created a looping lava animation that was projected onto sculptures of rocks.

I had fun working on Immersive Elements, and I’d love to continue working on similar projects.
